A Santorini boat tour for groups of six to seventeen means buying the boat, not seats. Seventeen shared seats would be €1,700; the private catamaran takes all seventeen for €2,100. That is about €400 more for the group. The shared cruise holds fifteen, so seventeen cannot sit together on it.
A group is the one case where the arithmetic on this site changes shape. For two or three people a shared seat at €100 is simply the cheaper day. From about eight upwards the gap between a row of seats and the whole catamaran narrows to a few hundred euros, and what you are buying stops being a seat and starts being a boat.

Seventeen shared seats, or the whole catamaran
The shared cruise is €100 a seat. The private day cruise is €1,200 for the first eight guests and €100 for each guest after that, up to seventeen. Same boat, same five hours, same lunch off the grill. Here is what each group size comes to.

Two honest caveats. The €1,700 at seventeen is arithmetic worked from the €100 seat price, not an option you can take: the shared boat is sold as a small group, so a large party cannot sit on one shared departure. And at fourteen shared seats you may still have a stranger aboard, because the fifteenth seat stays on sale until it sells. A private boat is never cheaper per head than a shared seat — from €150 each at eight, down to €124 at seventeen.
What the extra €400 buys
From ten guests upward the difference between seats and the boat is about €400 for the whole group. At seventeen that is roughly €24 a head. Four things change for it.
Nobody else is on deck. Fourteen strangers become none. On a shared cruise you are one booking among several and the boat runs to its schedule.
The stops belong to you. The captain still decides what is safe. Inside that, how long you stay at Mesa Pigadia and whether you swim twice at the hot springs is your call.
One boat held, not fourteen seats. Seats only exist while they are unsold. A charter is one date on one hull, held once, for your name.
Your own music, your own noise. A group that has come to be loud together should not be sharing a cockpit with a honeymoon.
Ten hours instead of five
The full-day private cruise runs 10:30 to 20:30. It starts at €2,400 for up to ten guests, then €100 for each guest after that. At seventeen it comes to €3,100, about €182 a head.
It is not five hours twice. The extra time buys Thirassia, a longer lunch and the caldera cliffs lit from the west on the way home. For a group that has flown a long way to spend one day together, ten hours is usually the better day.
How a group booking actually runs
- One person writes, onceSend the date, the number of guests and the ages of any children. One thread, one set of answers. We reply the same day with what is free.
- Tell us about the food at booking, not at the dockVegetarian, vegan, gluten, nuts, shellfish. The crew shop for the grill before they sail and cook it on board. A late change is a real problem in one small galley. We have not published a standing list of what the galley can do, so ask and we will answer before you pay.
- Split the payment however suits youWe take one booking for the boat, not fourteen. Dividing it inside the group is your business. We can give you the figure per head so nobody works it out on the quay. Our deposit and payment terms are not published here — ask on WhatsApp and we will set them out first.
- Confirm the final head count before you travelTwo things come off that number: the shopping for lunch, and the right life jackets for the children. Both are easier a week out than the night before.
- Keep the last day of your trip freeWind cancels cruises here, and the captain decides on the morning. A cancelled cruise on your last day is a refund, not a day on the water.
If two people drop out
It happens on most group bookings. The private fare only moves above the base of eight, which is worth knowing before you pick a boat.

Cancellation is free seven days or more before departure, and inside seven days you should message us rather than assume. Note the asymmetry: on a private boat below eight guests the price does not move at all, so a group of eight that becomes six pays what eight would have. On shared seats every head is a separate €100.
We sell 17 on a private charter, and that number does not move because a group asked nicely on the quay.
Those three unsold places are what makes a full boat comfortable: a seat in the shade for everybody, room at the table, and a swim platform that is not a queue. Sell them and you have a different day. If your group is 18 or more, say so in your first message.
More than seventeen
Above seventeen we cannot put you on one catamaran. Two things are possible instead, and both need more notice than a single booking.
Two departures on one day. Half the group on the private day cruise from 09:30, half on the private sunset from 14:30. Or the same split across two dates. It works for a group that does not need to be in one photograph.
A second boat. We do not publish a two-boat product, because availability on a given date in August is not ours to promise in March. Send the date and the head count and we will tell you what is actually possible, including when the answer is no.

Common questions
What is the capacity limit of the vessels?
We sell 15 seats on a shared cruise and 17 on a private charter. The RIB is private only and takes 8. If your group is larger than 17, message us before you plan anything else — that is a different conversation.
Can we split the payment between us?
We take one booking for the boat, not fourteen separate ones. Dividing it inside your group is up to you, and we can give you the figure per head so nobody has to work it out on the quay. There is no deposit. Our payment methods are not published here — ask on WhatsApp and we will set them out before you commit.
Are there any vegetarian or vegan options for the onboard meal?
Tell us at booking, not on the day. The crew shop for the grill in advance and cook it on board, so a late change is a real problem in one small galley. We have not published a confirmed list of vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free dishes, so send us the specifics and we will confirm what the galley can do.
What happens if two of our group drop out?
On a private boat the total drops by €200, because each guest above the base of eight is €100. Below eight the price does not move at all: €1,200 covers one guest or eight. On shared seats you lose two seats at €100 each, subject to the seven-day cancellation rule.
Can you take more than 17 people?
Not on one catamaran. Seventeen is the private limit and we do not exceed it, whatever the group. Above that we either split you across two departures on the same day, or look at whether a second boat can be found for your date. Send the date and the head count and we will answer honestly.
Is a private boat cheaper per person for a big group?
No. It never is. At eight guests a private day cruise is €150 a head against €100 for a shared seat, and at seventeen it is still €124. What the difference buys is the whole boat: the route, how long you stay at each stop, and no strangers on deck.
