A bachelorette party on a Santorini boat works best as a private charter: the whole catamaran for five hours from 10:30 or 15:30, up to 17 guests. It is €1,200 for the first eight, then €100 each. Your playlist, wine, beer and a cooked meal are in the price.

What you are buying is an empty deck for five hours. Nobody else's music, nobody else's timetable, and a crew who have run this day often enough that very little surprises them.

What it works out at per person
This is the argument for taking the whole boat. The fare is fixed to eight guests, and every head after that adds €100, so the cost per person falls as the deck fills.

Seventeen is the most we carry on a private charter, and €124 each is the lowest this gets. It is still more than the €100 a shared seat costs, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What the extra buys is an empty boat: your music, your swimming times, and nobody photographing their lunch beside you.
The afternoon, hour by hour
A 15:30 departure in July. The swimming stops are what the day is built around; everything else fits between them.
The cars come
Pickup from your hotels. Tell us in advance if the group is split across villages, because it changes the run.
Lines off
Shoes off on deck, bags below, two minutes on the life jackets and the heads. After that the boat is yours.
Red Beach
First swim, anchored under the red cliffs. There is no jetty anywhere on this coast, so you go in off the platform at the stern.
White Beach, then Mesa Pigadia
A wall of white pumice with no road to it, then a quiet cove under Akrotiri. Snorkelling gear is in the locker by the steps.
The hot springs
You swim from the boat into Agios Nikolaos bay at Palea Kameni. Iron oxide turns the water ochre, and it marks a pale swimsuit for good. Wear something dark.
Dinner
The grill has been going while you were in the water. Chicken, shrimp, salad and pasta, and the wine and beer come out.
The sun, off the lighthouse
Held past the 1892 light at the island's corner, where the horizon west is open sea. The deck is as loud or as quiet as you want it.
Ashore
Back on land where the car dropped you, in time for whatever the rest of the night is.
The 10:30 charter runs the same route five hours earlier, in flatter water and harder light, and puts you back on land by mid-afternoon.
What is actually yours
The music. Private means private. The playlist is the group's, and nobody is going to ask you to turn it down for the benefit of strangers, because there are none aboard.
The drinks. Santorini wine, beer and water are in the price and they are not rationed. There is no tab, no card machine and no upsell at four in the afternoon.
The swimming. Three or four stops in five hours. On a private boat you decide how long you stay in at each one, which usually means the last stop runs long.
The food. Cooked on board while you are in the water, and eaten on deck. Tell us about allergies and about anyone who does not eat meat when you book, not on the morning.
The crew. Two or three of them, Greek and English speaking. They have run this day for a lot of groups and have seen everything a hen or stag weekend can produce. Very little of it registers.
No glass goes over the side. Not a bottle, not a glass, not for a photograph. It sinks into a bay we anchor in every week.
Nothing that puts someone in the water unplanned. No pushing people off the boat, no jumping from the rigging, no going in while the engines are turning. People swim when the crew say the swim is open.
The captain's word on safety is final. He decides on the morning whether the sea is safe, he decides the order of the stops, and he decides when someone has had enough sun or enough wine to be in the water. There is no appeal, and it is not personal.

When this is the wrong boat
If there are four of you and the number per head is what decides it, take shared seats on the semi-private cruise at €100 each. Same water, same cook, fourteen other people.
If what you want is a nightclub that floats, this is not it. It is a sailing catamaran with a grill, three swim stops and a crew of two or three. The day is loud in the way a boat is loud, not in the way a club is.
If half the group gets seasick, take the 10:30 slot. The meltemi builds through the afternoon in July and August, and a hangover on a moving deck at five o'clock is its own kind of memorable.
If there are more than 17 of you, we cannot take you, and we will say so straight away rather than let the guest list creep.

Common questions
Is there music on board?
Yes, and on a private charter the playlist is yours rather than ours. What we have not published is the specifics of the sound system or exactly how you connect a phone to it. If the music is a big part of the plan, confirm that with us on WhatsApp before you book.
Can I bring my own drinks or food on board?
Santorini wine, beer and water are already in the price, so most groups do not need to. We have not published a policy on guests bringing their own alcohol, and it may differ between a shared cruise and a private charter. Message us before you buy anything, so nobody is caught out.
Is this the same boat for a bachelor party?
Yes. One catamaran, one price, one set of rules, whichever party it is. Bachelorette groups tend to take the 15:30 slot for the light and bachelor groups the 10:30 for the swimming, but that is a pattern rather than a rule. Book whichever half of the day you want.
Can we celebrate a special occasion onboard?
Yes, and a private charter is the right format for it. The boat is yours, the timing is yours, and the crew know what is happening. Tell us what you are marking when you book rather than on the morning, so we can plan around it instead of improvising.
How many people can we bring?
Seventeen guests at most, plus two or three crew. We sell a private charter to 17, which is the difference between a full deck and a crowded one. Eight guests or fewer all pay the same €1,200, so a group of six is not penalised.
Is a private boat cheaper per person than shared seats?
No, and nobody should tell you it is. At eight guests a private charter is €150 each against €100 for a shared seat, and at seventeen it is still €124. The extra buys the whole deck, your own music and the right to decide how long you stay in the water.
What happens if the wind gets up?
The captain decides on the morning of the cruise whether the sea is safe. If he cancels you move to another date or take a full refund. He may also swap the order of the stops or drop one. That is a judgement about the sea, not about your schedule.
