Where you are staying

Santorini boat tour from Fira, where the transfer is shortest

We are based in Fira. Road transfer both ways is included, and from a Fira hotel it is the shortest one we run — the car for a 10:00 departure comes at about 09:20.

€100 per person · 10:00 - 15:00 · Shared seats

We are based in Fira, so a Santorini boat tour from a Fira hotel starts with the shortest road transfer we run. Pickup and drop-off are included. The semi-private day cruise is €100 per person, 10:00 to 15:00, with the car arriving around 09:20.

Fira is the island's road hub. Every bus route begins at its station, and the cliff below it is where the cruise tenders land. Both of those work in your favour and against you, at different hours of the same day.

The shortest ride to the boat

Road transfer between your hotel and the boat is in the price of every catamaran cruise, and from Fira it is a short one. That is the main practical advantage of staying here.

It still needs your hotel name. Fira and Firostefani are full of cave rooms reached only by stepped lanes, and no car comes to that kind of door. Where that applies we collect from the nearest point a vehicle can reach and name it in writing with your booking.

Your exact meeting point at the water is confirmed the same way. Do not assume it is the port at the bottom of your cliff.

Detail
The portFira Old Port — locally Skala, officially Ormos Firon — about 260 m below the town.
What uses itCruise-ship tenders, excursion caïques, water taxis and small tour boats. Scheduled ferries do not; they use Athinios.
The stepped pathThe roughly 590-step Karavolades stairway. Closed since 28 July 2026 after a landslide, with no reopening date published.
The cable carOpened 1982. A 220 m rise in three to five minutes, six people to a cabin, 600 an hour in each direction. €10 an adult one way, €5 a child, €5 a bag.
Booking the cable carYou cannot. There is no advance ticket and no skip-the-line, and it shuts in strong wind.
The queueReported at 60 to 90 minutes at peak. The peaks are 09:30–12:00 and 15:30–18:00.
Scheduled ferriesAthinios, about 8–10 km south of Fira, roughly 20 minutes by road.

None of this stands between you and our boat, because the transfer is included and the meeting point comes with your booking. It is here because it is the thing most likely to eat the rest of a day spent in Fira.

A morning cruise leaves at the busiest hour of a ship day

On a day with several ships in the caldera, every tender lands at the foot of your cliff and every one of those passengers wants the same cable car. The published worst of it runs 09:30 to 12:00.

Your pickup for a 10:00 departure is at about 09:20. Those two things happen in the same streets, twenty minutes apart.

In practice that means one thing: be at the pickup point a few minutes early. A car cannot sit and wait in a Fira lane on a four-ship morning, and the driver has other people to collect.

The compensation is real. You leave town at the hour everyone else is arriving in it, and you are back at 15:00, ahead of the second queue that builds from 15:30.

Which cruise to take from here

The semi-private day cruise suits Fira better than it suits anywhere else, for the dull reason that a 09:20 pickup is survivable when the car ride is five minutes rather than forty.

The semi-private sunset cruise works just as easily, and lands you back in a town where dinner is a walk rather than a drive.

If what you actually want is to get down the cliff and along the coast rather than a five-hour cruise, that is a different service. The water taxi is a private boat for up to eight, priced by route.

Common questions

Where do the cruises start from?

We are based in Fira, and your exact meeting point is confirmed with your booking rather than published here. It depends on the boat, the day and the wind. Road transfer from your hotel and back is included in every catamaran cruise, so finding a port is not your job.

Can you walk up from Fira Old Port?

Not at the moment. The Karavolades stairway, the roughly 590-step zigzag path between Skala and Fira, has been closed since 28 July 2026 after a landslide, and no reopening date has been published. That leaves the cable car as the way up from the tender pier.

How much is the Santorini cable car?

The published fare is €10 for an adult one way, €5 for a child and €5 per item of luggage. The ride is a 220 m rise in three to five minutes, six people to a cabin. There is no advance booking and no priority ticket of any kind.

How long is the cable car queue?

Widely reported at 60 to 90 minutes at peak, with the worst windows running 09:30 to 12:00 and 15:30 to 18:00. It moves 600 people an hour in each direction, which is the limit no matter how many ships are anchored. Strong wind shuts it entirely.

What time will the car pick us up in Fira?

About 09:20 for the 10:00 day cruise and about 14:20 for the 15:00 sunset cruise, give or take. The time on your confirmation is the one that applies, because departures shift through the season with the sun. We send it with the meeting point when we confirm.
